In his 1976 book The Filming of the West, movie historian John Tuska . Most people discovered Tombstone after it went to video. The inspired teaming of a cowboy and an Indian was a paradigm of racial harmony.

In his 1976 book The Filming of the West, movie historian John Tuska predicted that Eastwood’s career likely didn’t have staying power. That same year, The Outlaw Josey Wales introduced a new type of Eastwood character, still quiet, still deadly, but also compassionate and emotionally vulnerable. And to this day, we can’t listen to the William Tell Overture without thinking Hi-ho, Silver! 27. The Virginian (1929). We’ll smile when we say it - no western novel has been dramatized more than The Virginian.

In the novel Tom Sawyer has several adventures, often with his friend, Huck. One such adventure, Tom's whitewashing of a fence, has been adapted into paintings and referenced in other pieces of popular culture. Originally a commercial failure the book ended up being the best selling of any of Twain's works during his lifetime.

Most of the adventures recorded in this book really occurred; one or twowere experiences of my own, the rest those of boys who were schoolmatesof mine.

I got a chance to meet the author in Albuquerque a few weeks ago. He's quite a guy. An extremely interesting, very nice man. He told our friends, my wife and me about his background and adventures. We had a very fun breakfast that morning. Before we parted company, he told us about this book and scratched his email address on a piece of paper for us. I really found this one to be a GREAT READ!!! I'm happy I purchased this one. Anyone else I know would love it as much as my wife and I do. (I'm going to have to email Tom and tell him that too.) I'm really thankful that Tom Davis had the intestinal fortitude to make this journey and that his story is available through Amazon.

This book dispels romantic notions about cowboy life, yet portrays the poetry of dealing with life as it presents itself - the joy, beauty, hardship, tragedy and everything in between - with no whining or complaint. Not much artistry in the telling, but very much in the cowboy way. Loved it.
