This book is for LIMIT Hold 'Em only, though it doesn't say so. VERY MISLEADING. Presentation is of the self-published variety. Black Friday aside, the information and strategies are obsolete, as the entire world of poker has changed. Print and grammar errors present. I don't play limit, and would not have purchased this book had I known it was exclusively for limit poker no longer available on the internet (minus a few states).

every player should own a copy of this book. no matter if your just a weekend player or pro.

I've read a fair number of poker books, and this is the one I use most often. It has a very good starting hands chart, and the analysis is helpful throughout. If I were to recommend two books for starters, they would be this and Lee Jones's Winning Low Limit Hold'em. That book is good, too, but I find myself referring to Hilger's book more than Jones's. I've made a fair amount of money using these books.

Some info here, but it isn't an easy read; professionals at any sport don't always make the best teachers. Card games are a mix of math, psychology and reading others, and it takes time at the table to get good.

FYI, what you see today on TV is not consistently professional play. If you have watched for a few years you'll notice the legendary great players don't last long (and have even left the field) because the new kids outnumber them 10-1, and simply take turns winning. Gets boring fast. Doyle Brunson, your kind is missed.

Bought for gift and she was very pleased with all the help it gave her, at the gambling tables.
The book has a lot of helpful information for an aspiring poker player. Just be warned that this book is for "limit" hold'em and not "no limit."
