This was very different from Karen Blixen's other books. In terms of the writing, she is at her driest, if not exactly plainest (you'll still find some of her usual style of Biblical and other conceits in the essay), and definitely most detached, which makes it kind of ironic that conversely, the actual content of the essay is much more connected to immediate reality and the specific issues and.
