This revision of Gas Tables not only endows its contents with a higher and more uniform degree of accuracy. Professor Joseph H. Keenan, who was the motivating force behind these tables from the beginning, died at the age of 77 on July 17, 1977.

This revision of Gas Tables not only endows its contents with a higher and more uniform degree of accuracy. Although his health had gradually declined during the last two years of his life, he continued to engage in preparations leading to the publication of this revision. With the project seriously jeopardized by the loss of Professor Keenan's experience and guidance, coauthor Dr. Jing Chao and his son, William C. H. Chao, who were already actively involved, greatly expanded their participation.
