Barely any problems with this book. The binding might be a tad bit worn just on the very edges but the book still is in one piece and it doesn't affect the learning experience at all. My only complaint is the price, at least make it $20 less.

I am taking this class as an introductory algebra class. It is a no credit college course. Wish I had paid attention in high-school, because I don't remember any of this. Of the six classes I have, this is the hardest by far. If you have to take this class, brush up on algebraic formulas before you start. This class moves at a very fast pace.

I needed this for a class and on campus it was $280. So I decided to rent in on Amazon for, I think, $50. I have yet to return it, and hope that is quite easy. One thing to keep in mind: If I bought this on campus it would have included an access code for webassign, but since I rented it on here I had to spend another $40 on access code on the web assign website. Still substantially cheaper than in bookstore. The lessons in the book seem to be very well laid out and easy to follow as well, but I also had a great instructor for the class.

Great price better than getting it from my school book store for $160 .
I rented & it had some writing in it but it wasn't bad ALTHOUGH some of the answers were wrong that the person wrote down lucky for me I did my own work & I erased the wrong stuff for the next student .

I am giving it full stars because I was able to use it for two of my classes. The thing about it is, my school added a whole chapter to their book I was able to get the chapter and continue to use this book.

This book made me realize something that I probably didn't before. That is that an applied approach is just simply skimming. That's what this book does, it skims over the concepts of Algebra. This is definitely not a solid foundation and will not benefit you if you need to take Trig., College Algebra or higher math. For instance, graphing is something you do alot in algebra. This book does not introduce the TI-84 calculator which is essential in today's algebra. I took an intermed. algebra course at one school under this book. Well a few years later I had to retake intermed. algebra because I placed low on the math test and was put back into it at another school. I was surprisingly shocked that I had learned very little with the applied approach. It was as if I was totally new to algebra. If your instructor requests this book for your algebra class, you will not finish that course with a strong enough foundation in intermediate algebra trust me.

My son purchased this book. His professor said the book should come with an access code. We did not receive one. I would like to get the code this book was not inexpensive and he needs it for class.
This is the best pre-algebra that I have ever seen. The book is well written and self explanatory. Each chapter is built upon the previous chapter. Love it!
