I was a student of McKee's at San Francisco State and used this manual in his self-published version. Assuming that the professionally published version is substantially the same, I can recommend it as an easy to follow handbook for creating good working glaze formulas. He discusses what clay is, types and characteristics. He starts with a clear glaze formula and develops the formula complexity then lists a variety of colorants. He talks about firing and glaze problems. All in all, a good, densely written manual.
