This book is a comprehensive treatment of the nuclear Overhauser effect (NOE), an important branch of NMR spectroscopy concerned with structural and conformational problems. It is the only text in this area since 1971. Since that time there have been tremendous changes in the area, particularly with the growth of experiments such as NOE difference spectroscopy, NOESY, and heteronuclear NOE, with applications to an ever-increasing variety of structural and conformational problems in chemistry and biochemistry.

The crystal structure of phosphorus trifluoride-tris(dinuoroboryl)borane, B4F6 · PF3, has been determined by an X-ray diffraction study of single-crystal specimens. The orthorhombic unit cell, space group Pnma, with a 1. 93 ± . 05 Å, b 1. 78 ± . 05 Å, and c . 75 ± . 05 Å, contains four formula units. The calculated density is . 2 g/cm3. The structure was solved by statistical methods. and refined by full-matrix least squares to a conventional R of . % for 703 data collected by counter methods (. % for the 603 nonzero data).
