Chichester: J. Wiley, 1983 . Frequency effects on polymer-stabilized blue-phase liquid crystals (BPLCs) are investigated. As the electric field frequency increases, Kerr constant decreases and dielectric heating increases. A physical model (extended Cole-Cole model) is proposed to fit the experimental results. Electro-optic properties of thin liquid crystal cells are found to deviate significantly from those of thick cells. Results on the liquid crystal thickness dependent phase retardation, effective birefringence, threshold voltage, and decay time of thin E-7 cells are presented.
