This text is brilliant. Sure it might be a bit older but we haven't really come up with any great discoveries in gross anatomy in the last 50 years anyway.

This book provides a written description of where everything is in the body, its shape, size, relationship with other organs and passage (for veins nerves etc) which is essential for the medical student to be able to describe.

If you are getting lovely diagrams in your exam to label then a standard colour plate anatomy text will be fine. But if for example you have to "describe the surface anatomy and anatomical relationships of the duodenum" then this book tells you how to do it.

It also has excellent "how to draw" sections such as how to draw the bones in the hand. All the images are hand drawn so potentially able to be reproduced by the undifferentiated med student.

This book should be used in conjunction with your standard colour plate text (Grants atlas is great) and lots of lab time.

Definitely worth buying if you can find a copy.

If you're not frantically keeping up with your studies in medical school, this is an excellent book!! In medical school, I used Cunningham's Manual of Practical Anatomy due to time constraints. Later when I taught anatomy to medical students, I consulted this book as well as Cunningham's.

This text includes memory aids, which help stick things in your mind. Also, the sketches in this book are good if you want to make your own sketches as you study. Even a simple or crude picture or diagram will help the material stick in your memory. Another good point is Grant was a physician and the approach reflects this.
