Come Next Summer - Leigh Michaels. CHAPTER ONE. Devon had planned to get up early that January morning. Not, however, quite this early, she firmly told her Siamese cat. Cyan merely stared at her with innocent blue eyes, sat down on the pillow next to Devon’s nose, wrapped her sable-brown tail elegantly round her cream-colored body, and patiently washed her paws. Her statement was made; it was breakfast time. Devon groaned, turned over on the couch and concentrated on going back to sleep.

But there is only one apartment and two people wanting it. How bad can it be, she asked herself, to share an apartment with Jon Hardesty for a few months? Come summer, it would all be over.

This a dated contemporary (lack of technology etc) with moral values from about thirty years ago. Books like these make me feel a bit nostalgic about those days when sleeping with someone actually meant something rather than just being a physical act. Anyway, the main characters meet when they both try to rent an apartment close to the university campus. Before the h knows what's hit her, she's renting the apartment with the H despite the moral implications fo the day. The H had recently run for Congress and lost so he's teaching at the local university until after Summer when he plans to run for the Senate. The h is in the final few months of her degree and needs to save as much money as possible. The H is attracted to the h and keeps suggesting they have an affair but the h is 10 years younger and still an innocent. I enjoyed the walk down memory lane.

Such an excellent story by an excellent author.

Believe it or not, I recalled reading this story years and years ago, but I could not remember the title. So I went to Wikipedia where they have a list of all the Harlequin romance authors listed by year. I typed into Google every title and author by year until I found this book! It took three or four attempts, spanning weeks. That's how determined I was to read this story again!

This book has a favourite trope of mine. A wise professor and younger girl. I loved all the scenes, and I loved how the hero and heroine were forced to interact while halving the rent on an apartment just to be close to the university.

I just love this book to bits.
