A nice text that has a smooth, engaging reading style with some cultural references to engage the young reader. My one gripe is that it should have contained a little more relevant interactive exercises to play out in class. It is my belief that the college speech communication classroom is a laboratory unlike any other a student will ever encounter to practice these principles in relative shelter. Otherwise this book was one of the most informative and enjoyable of my speech comm degree.

I bought this book as required reading for a communications class I took. Like most books bought for school, I didn't read the whole thing. The chapters I read covered the basic rules for communicating with others ( things like active & passive listening, body language and inter & intra personal communications) . The font is very kind on the eyes and the language used to convey the take-a-way messages after every chapter, is very straight forward. Buy the newest version of this book if reading for yourself and not to pass a class.

I know people are like, 'duh, interpersonal communication' but we have to question how competent are we to execute these skills and concepts? the book shows how to develop relationships with others and the communication dynamics and why certain things don't work and other methods do.

Ronald Adler is a genius.

I'm extremely satisfied with this book. It was shipped within several days. Knowing it was used, I expected it to have highlighting all throughout the book, but it is only in the first chapter. Personally I think highlighting left in a book from the previous owner gives the next owner a little insight and studying tips! The cover has some wear, but I have taped it up with clear packing tape and it's perfect. Interplay is also a wonderful textbook and that material is very easy to understand.

Needed this book for university class so once again I turn to Amazon.
It's a pretty interesting book; brings up a lot of concepts we already know of but never really pay attention to.

PROS:
- Fast shipping, reliable seller.
- Got me through the class.

CONS:
- none

FINAL RATING: 5/5
