This is a very nice book that does have color photographs inside as well as many black and white shots. Ms Perry does gives you lots of ideas of what to do with your Christmas cards, like making tags, hanging them on small decorative trees, framing them in similar frames on a wall,to place cards for the table, flower arrangements, as well place mats and coasters as well holiday Christmas decorations. Some of this is akin to using decoupage to save your favorite scenes and colors. The directions are basic and not very thorough. A typical description is pg 34-35
"Instead of trimming the rim of the coaster with tape, you can glue narrow satin ribbon around the edge both inside and out, and finish with a tiny box. If you want to keep your coasters for a very long time, cut a 4 inch circle of clear Con-Tact (it is a self adhesive) and place it over your completed design' This will protect your cutouts from the drips and drops of many glasses."
While a very nice simple book with as the previous reviewer mentioned, with lots of ideas, I think if all you used was Christmas cards you really would not be able to complete these designs, so I recommend using Dover Publications cutouts as well, unless of course you get a lot of cards in which you're off and running. I don't so I turned to clipart as well.

I've just had a lot of fun figuring out what I can turn the Christmas cards into. Sure we all know about cutting out gift tags but this goes way beyond that simple suggestion.
The author shows place cards, party table decorations, placemats and coasters, all made with the colorful pictures from Christmas cards. She even makes a Christmas village of little houses, a creche, furnishes a doll's house and creates a merry-go-round.
The black and white photos look a bit dated, but use your imagination to picture today's stack of cards transformed into lots of projects. I even cut old cards into bookmark sized pieces to slip inside the cards I send next year.
It's fun for an adult but will keep the kids busy too.
