The Lizard King book.

The Lizard King book. Jim Morrison was more than just the lead singer of the Doors  . Seeing as how Hopkins covered Jim's life in detail within his previous book, the biography portion of The Lizard King is shortened a bit. Coming in at around 193 pages, the biography comes off as Cliff Notes, skipping a lot of the minor details but retaining all of the major events from Morrison's life, and even adding a final chapter about the challenges in creating a feature film on the Doors with Oliver Stone's vision of their career.

Jim Morrison, lead singer of the Doors, has achieved a bizarre cult status since his death in 1971. But this reassessment is only part of this remarkable book. At its heart is a series of interviews with Jim Morrison by journalists including Hopkins himself, Ben Fong-Torres, John Tobler, Bob Chorush, Salli Stevenson, Richard Goldstein and the late John Carpenter, Morrison shows himself to have been articulate, intelligent and witty. Published uncut, these interviews provide a unique insight into a man who consciously created his own myth, then lived to regret it.

Jim Morrison was a broken and humiliated man and died a lonely, painful death all at the age of 27. Is that enough for Mr. Hopkins or are you going to continue to ply the public with tales about every wrong, obnoxious thing Jim Morrison ever did? (Sad. Very sa. Jim Morrison fans would. Jim Morrison fans would do better to get themselves a copy of a "Jim Morrison: Friends Gathered Together".

Whatever you want to call him, Jim Morrison was an eccentric poet living far. In the book Jerry Hopkins gets into the mind of Jim and ‘The Doors’ while they were blowing up and starting to experiment with drugs, self destructing, exploring free love and flying high on life, all in the peak of their career. This video shows a brief summary of what jim was going through at the time, from dropping out college and becoming a musician. He feels bombarded with what was all going on, drugs, fans, war, peace, love, hopes and desires. A death glorified life comes to a halt when he joins the 27 club.

I love it! I even contacted the company about switching colors at the last minute and they were easy and delightful to talk to. I'd highly recommend going through them if you want a gnarly shirt that ships fast and looks cool. Thank you

It was a so-so book. Interesting somewhat, but no big revelations on the Lizard King.

This book was a good book about Jim Morrison and told an abbreviated version of his life story that if you read "No One Here Gets Out Alive", you can skip the first part of the book. I enjoyed the second interview half of the book after already having read "N One Here Gets Out Alive" also by Jerry Hopkins and Danny Sugerman, I grazed over the first part of the book. The book arrived without a jacket and was advertised with one, but I bought it used and that is not a reflection poorly on Amazon. The book is a good read and if you want to have another view of Jim Morrison, this book will not disappoint. It is well written and the pace is good. It has a good flow and I did not find myself stuck in the middle of the book as I do with so many biographies that start off stung and finish poorly. This is a good book and worth the price.
