It started with this ad, placed by Joel Rosenman a. .I think he was a brilliant man but kn I actually read the book that was written in 1979 so I'm not sure if this is the same, I'll have to track down a copy and see. Anyway. I read this first, then Michael Lang's new book. The vibe I get makes John and Joel's version of the facts a little more believable. Michael Lang looks posed in most of his photo's, his version of meetings and personality conflicts between himself and John and Joel has a touch of "thou dost protest too much" in my view.
Joel Rosenman, the son of a dentist was half of the fabled ‘young men .
According to Kornfeld, he did most of the talking as Lang hung back with the cool guy vibe.
Forty years ago, Joel Rosenman and John Roberts were in their 20s when they came into a large inheritance. Terry spoke to them in 1989 on the 20th anniversary of the festival. They decided to take the money and promote a rock concert in upstate New York - an event that later became known as Woodstock. They told her they never planned on hosting a crowd of 400,000. Mr. JOEL ROSENMAN (Co-producer of the Woodstock festival): Our first go-round we hoped to get about 25,000 people. That was in say, March of 1969. By mid-April, we realized we might attract 35 to 50,000.

Book by Rosenman, Joel. I came away with a great feeling of Woodstock, the music, people in the crowd, performers, and all the chaos behind the scenes. It's a great story of young people getting along and toughing it out. The problems they encountered is what made it so historic. Arguably, the festival ranks as one of the most important moments in American history.
