Dizzy Up the Girl is the sixth studio album by American rock band Goo Goo Dolls, released on September 22, 1998 through Warner Bros. The album is often noted for being the album which propelled the Goo Goo Dolls into success, although they already enjoyed some recognition with the downbeat track "Name" in 1995. Dizzy features more upbeat compositions than they had previously recorded. It is also the band's first album to feature drummer Mike Malinin.

Could you whisper in my ear The things you wanna feel I'd give you anythin' To feel it comin'. Do you wake up on your own And wonder where you are?

Could you whisper in my ear The things you wanna feel I'd give you anythin' To feel it comin'. Do you wake up on your own And wonder where you are? You live with all your faults. I wanna wake up where you are I won't say anything at all So why don't you slide. Yeah, I'm gonna let it slide

In 1986, the Goo Goo Dolls formed in Buffalo, NY, and Jim Kelly became the Buffalo Bills' starting quarterback. By the start of 1998 - nine months before the September release of sixth album Dizzy Up the Girl - Kelly was already retired, Hall of Fame résumé intact, having guided Buffalo to four consecutive Super Bowls; the Goo Goo Dolls were on the heels of their very first crossover hit, in a pop-rock era littered with one-hit wonders. It's a crude, gnarly punk record that features bassist Robby Takac snarling out lead vocals on every song, including a two-minute cover of "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," just because.

The ads for this book said the strumming pattern was included. IT IS NOT. I hope one day I will get good enough that the book might become useful to me. What good is the chord with no idea what the rhythm is?

Just as expected. Thanks

The Goo Goo Dolls - Dizzy Up the Girl is a highly detailed book filled with the sheet music that you will allow you to master all the guitar parts of the entire album. As well as every riff and chord, it's also got the vocal parts - lyrics, notes and harmonies where applicable.
For almost every song there is a different tuning for guitar, some varying with giutar parts, which is specified at the beginning of each song, along with various chord symbols and the tempo. The rhythm pattern is displayed over the staff and TAB lines, and while the book can be a bit complicated to follow at times it is very extensive, and is perfect for anyone who wants to play any of the great hits from DUtG, and for anyone who wants to be Johnny Rzeznik. A Guitar Notation Legend found at the back of the book explains all the tablature smbols for those who need to know.
An excellent book for those who want it, better than looking for TABs on the internet. If possible a good companion piece would be the other version of the book, with the piano parts and less extensive guitars parts, for those who want to play these numbers in a band. Be warned, you'll be tuning you're guitar an awful lot if you want to play every song.

Hi everyone,
The reason there are two very very different reviews at the top of this page is that THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THIS BOOK!!!!!! There is a Piano/Vocal/Guitar book and there is a guitar only book. Please keep that in mind if you want to buy it. If you are a guitar player, get the guitar only book. From the positive review, it must be really good. The PVG version, however, only has the chord names when it comes to guitar so I can see why Daniel was disappointed. He was right, though. If you are a piano player you should buy this book. However, if you're still playing at a beginner or early intermediate level, you may want to put off buying it for awhile, as the pieces are not easy. But if you've been playing for a few years and are a little more advanced, you should be able to learn the songs in a couple of days. (With a lot of practice, of course) However, there are a few problems with it. It's not entirely accurate or complete, (notably, the melody line for the guitar solo in the middle of "Name" is missing.) If you have a little background in playing by ear or fakebooking, you should be able to fix the mistakes. But even if you leave it as it is, it's still a good book and if you like the Goo Goo Dolls you'll love playing through their music. I give this book four stars.

I bought this book before I learned to play guitar and I regret spending my money on this. If you are a piano player then buy this book but, if you are a guitarist then DON'T! I don't know what book the first reviewer was looking at but this book DOES NOT have original tunings. All it tells you is the original key the songs were played in. The GOO GOO DOLLS are the best band in the world and if you want to play their stuff note for note rather save your money and look for a 5 star tab on mxtabs.net. Im scared to buy another music book in case its like this one!

Wow, this book is brilliant. How John Rzeznik writes this stuff is way beyond me but actually learning how to play some of my favorite songs is fantastic. I wouldn't reccomend this to beginers. This book is the guitar version but if I could play piano I would definately buy the piano/vocals/chords book aswell.

5 Stars

If you play and love acoustic guitar, like me, then this is a good guide to have. If you like pop music kinda like Dave Matthews, Cat Stevens or Collective Soul, then I recommend the book for all acoustic players new and old. Even if you're not a huge fan of Goo Goo Dolls, like me, you'll still enjoy playing some of these easy riffs.
