Overall, I have to rate this book a "meh", neither good nor bad. It's a disappointingly average textbook, and didn't make the final cut for inclusion on my permanent bookshelf. I think there is a good amount of useful information contained inside of it, but it's often difficult to get at. I consider myself a pretty good reader, but even I had to re-read portions of it multiple times before the information "sunk in". This book was for a graduate level MIS course and we covered it in the second half of a semester, which I think is sufficient time to read it in.

Concerns/observations:

- Very expensive.
- Little source material outside HBS.
- Detailed, but written using dense language. ESL students might have some issues here.
- Contained interesting cases, but all out-of-date. With a 2009 copyright, I expected more recent examples.
- Some chapters and appendixes are great (e.g. 1, 2 & 3, Porter's Five Competitive Forces), but most were just ok (and some just plain bad, e.g. 9).
- Beyond the cases, chapters were short on real-life, practical examples related to the chapter content. That was surprising and a big negative for me.
- Good illustrations. Others have pointed out lack of labeling or descriptions, but I think text covers them reasonably well.
- Excellent chapter ending questions.
- Not too technical, non-IT business people should be ok grasping the concepts.

I bought this book for a IT class, the book is easy to follow. It does not repeat itself as other books I have read. My only complaint on the book is the size of the graphics, they are very small and hard to read, I had to use a magnifier glass. The book measures about 7" x 9", is small, but has a lot of material to read.
Great book.

As the title stated this book is great resource for developing understandings in IT management. I used this text in a strategy and management course in 4th year of university. I particularly enjoyed reading the chapters surrounding corporate and IT strategy.

Pretty good book in general. The first couple chapters are a good refresh on business mindset. A lot of case studies, which I did not find that useful but might be to some.

If you need this book for a class, sorry. If you're like me and occasionally buy textbooks to use as references, then you can do better than this. There's not much substance here.

A great book to start questioning IT strategy. Business Process Management planning step by step to ensure IT can support the business today and tomorrow

Works great!
The book is dated 2009 but nearly every case is around 10 years old. Not practical in the after math of the biggest recession since the Great Depression. Chapters are informative and read like material for a high school or undergrad student. Unless you are in IT or a techy kind of person, you will not get much out of this book.
