About Kenneth V. Ken Kardong is a professor in the zoology department at Washington State University, Pullman, WA. He received his P. from the University of Illinois and his MS and BA from the University of Washington.

Vertebrates are characterized by a bony skeleton and a well-developed brain. The group contains fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.
