This is Gandhi's translation, but this edition is grossly unprofessional. It contains multiple obvious spelling errors and error marks (It took me a few times to realize Gandhi wasn't actually inserting question marks in the middle of his sentences). If you want the text for free you can find it at www.forget-me.net/en/Gandhi/ - you are just getting charged 10$ for what your home printer can do just as easily.

In terms of content, this book is broad but relatively light. The language is not overbearing, but Gandhi's ideas are. It appears, contrary to popular conception that Gandhi does not actually advocate the English decolonization. Instead what he wants to achieve is a sort of personal emancipation from Western oppression. This oppression substitutes logic and corporeal desires for the traditional indian prioritization of the spiritual or soul.

I have been aware of this book for all my life, but never felt the interest to read it - just comfortable in my 'knowledge' of Gandhiji. The current political upheaval and wave of anti corruption sentiments motivated me to read this book. While I would - by the definition in this 'booklet' - be nothing more than a 'coward', I was just spell bound by Gandhiji's clarity of his thoughts, his unwavering belief in soul-force and his commitment to follow in his own beliefs laid out ~90 years ago! And the mind boggling fact is that he single mindedly pursued this for more than 2 decades till his life was taken. I only hope and pray that I learn something from this. I only hope another Gandhiji is born somewhere in this world. Wow!!

Gandhi is a bit hard to take in this little book. He rails against all modernity including railways, western medicine, and western education. This is a good book for the student to trace the origins of Gandhism as referenced in his recommendation of other works to read.
