Hopefully, it will not be the last you hear of the St. Claire family. I have no doubt there will be many more family members who’ll have their own story to tell, while at the same time you will get brief and tantalizing glimpses into the continuing lives of Hawk, Lucian, Sebastian and Arabella. Thank you for sharing this experience with me and, until next time, I wish you happy reading!

This book is part of a 4 book series and about the quiet, good sister who runs into problems in her marriage. I have to say I enjoyed it as I did all the other books too. The H and h were really nice and I was rooting for them all the way. I highly recommend the series

+++Update+++
I reread this book nearly 3 years after the above review and have to say my opinion is more in keeping with the reviewer who gave it 2 stars. How to wreck a happy marriage is a good way to describe what went on here. Now that I have read so many of this authors books, I realise she uses the misunderstanding plot way too much. Also I couldn't accept the way the h refused to trust her wonderful and loving husband. Men are stupid and he might have been polite to the woman wanting to wreck his marriage but the h's actions were implausible.

When I started this book, I got so into it that I couldn't put it down until I finished it. Usually when I start reading a book, I know within a few paragraphs whether I like it or not. This one gripped me in the first paragraph and I loved it! Keep writing

I'm convinced the heroine of this book found a Regency equivalent to one of those yellow how-to guides and decided to put it to the test. Until she started picking fights with her husband, her marriage was no more scandalous than any other love match in the haut ton. But, a happy marriage has little internal conflict to merit a stand-alone book. Now, if there was cause for marital discord... that would be another story, right? Spoilers ahead.

Despite having all the evidence of the hero's devotion, honor, and reliability, the heroine didn't trust him to rebuff the advances of his ex-fiance. Instead giving him an opportunity to explain his behavior, she allowed other people's opinions to affect her perception of their marriage and turned for comfort to a man she hardly knew. The villains took advantage of the rift and would have pulled off their nefarious plot if not for the hero's timely interference.

Refusing to allow his wife to destroy their marriage, the hero ignored her jealous fits and imprudent behavior and put all his efforts into quashing the rumors. He might have appeared staid and somewhat colorless in the first two books, but in this one he's definitely a man of action. I felt bad he was saddled with such a ninny for a wife.

But, what really turned me off was the casual treatment of divorce. Even as a rumor, it would have been outrageous. At the time, the narrative places the story in the early 1820's, divorce was an extremely difficult undertaking. Until the Matrimonial Causes act of 1857, divorce wasn't just expensive, it was scandalous. It would have been completely out of character for the hero to pursue it.

Nevertheless, I did finish the book if only after leafing through to the epilogue, realizing that it gave necessary background to the final installment of the quartet.

A Scandalous Marriage is book 3. about the Meredith Sisters, I recommend that you read the previous books #1 Wedding Night Revenge. #2 The Unknown Wife, and the last of the series about this family, #4 The Rake and the Rebel. All the heroes and heroines appear again & again thru each book. Once you start any Mary Brendan book you cannot put them down, she is one of the most excellent of the Regency romance writers that I have had the pleasure of reading. Definately Keepers for your library and well worth the money.
