As biography romance, India Passion show us a main character very simmiliar to the characters from Eça de Queiroz . I found this book mesmerizing. Javier Moro write with such rich description of India in the early 1900s.

As biography romance, India Passion show us a main character very simmiliar to the characters from Eça de Queiroz novels. Anita represent the woman of imperialist Europe that was struggling for independence. I learned a great deal about the history of India through this story.

Pasion India De Javier Moro.

Passion India by Javier Moro. Rudyard Kipling's famous observation serves as a fitting epitaph for Indian royalty and their extravagant lifestyles after Mrs Gandhi pulled the gilded plug. No collection of royals lived in such dissolute splendour, none less so than Jagatjit Singh, Maharaja of Kapurthala. A hardcore Francophile, he built palaces that were a replica of those in France: his own palace was called L'Elysee.

What a rich texture Moro builds into the real life story of beautiful Spanish dancer and the maharaja she marries as a fifth wife. Truly a story that stays with you of the exotic time and place in which she lived.

A fascinating novel that transports us to the fabulous world of the maharajas-abundant with harems, bacchanalian orgies, jewels, palaces, flamenco music, horses, Rolls-Royces, and tiger hunting On January 28, 1908, a young Spanish woman sitting astride a luxuriously bejeweled elephant enters a small city in northern India. The streets are packed with curious locals who are anxious to pay homage to their new princess, with skin as white as the snows of the Himalayas

Passion india by javier moro is set in the final decades of the british raj this is the true rags-to-riches story of anita delgado, an illiterate 16 year old spaniard, who was working as a dancer in a madrid nightclub when the maharaja of kapurthala whisked her off to india to become his fifth wife

Not sure about the historical accuracy of the facts in the book and am curious to get some feedback on that. That aside, incredibly interesting and well written book. Provides a view into the culture of these "Raja's" who were just wealthy puppets of the British and how they lived. Amazing detail on the palace life and regional politics and the british raj. One of the more interesting books read in a while.

Interesting, but not really up my alley. Not as spiritual as I'd hoped,
rather too materialistic. Good research and facts, however.

Excellent research and story telling. Surprisingly the Maharaja has been treated with a lot of care and praise. He comes out as a rather benevolent, caring and large hearted ruler, unlike the others in the neighborhood.

Amazing book. My boss recommended it to me and I couldn't put it down.
In spite of the title more suited to a Romance novel, the book is a historical narrative based on the real story of a ruling Prince of India in the latter part of the XIX century, who meets a young Spanish dancer while attending the wedding of King Alfonso XIII of Spain and falls madly in love. Moro brings alive the incredible wealth that the ruling princes enjoyed during the Raj, the prevailing customs in India and the complicated social and political relationship between the English officialdom and the Indian nobility. His description of the way of life in India with its harsh cast system, its dilettante nobility and the Victorian morals of the English rulers, provides a virtual gate to life at the time.
