Rick Steves (born May 10, 1955) is an American travel writer, author, activist and television personality. His travel philosophy encourages people to explore less-touristed areas of destinations and to become immersed in the local people's way of life. Since 2000, he has hosted Rick Steves' Europe, a travel series on public television.

I've used Rick Steves' books in the past, and always found them very useful and user friendly. His books are intended for people who are touring on their own - not on formal guided tours. He has a whole compliment of travel products that supplement his books, including walking tours you can download. This book on Spain is set up like his other books, so once you become familiar with the format it's easy to find the information you're looking for. Everything you need to know is included, such as information on money exchange, transportation, places to be sure to see, where to eat, where to stay. If you're looking for 5-star hotels, this is probably not the book for you.

Get inspired with Rick Steves’ recommended places to go and things to do, with tips, photos, videos, and travel information on. .Like a grandpa bouncing a baby on his knee, Spain is a mix of old and new, modern and traditional.

Get inspired with Rick Steves’ recommended places to go and things to do, with tips, photos, videos, and travel information on Spain. For the traveler, Spain means many things: bullfights, massive cathedrals, world-class art, Muslim palaces, whitewashed villages, delicious paella, sunny beaches, and lively nightlife. You'll find all those things, but the country's charm really lies in its people and their unique lifestyle.

Great DVD. Very informative and entertaining. The first two copies of this I ordered were defective but the third one was fine. Amazon was good about doing the exchanges. We visited Spain a few months after buying the DVD and found the information to be very reliable and helpful. It was fun to watch the DVD again when we got back and enjoy seeing the places we had visited. We also found Rick Steves' guidebook on Spain to be very, very helpful. We stayed in the hotels he recommended and we were very happy with the accommodations. I enthusiastically recommend this DVD and all of Rick Steve's other travel resources on Spain.

I found this video both entertaining and informative. I bought it in preparation for my trip to Spain, my first trip to Europe. The only two episodes that I watched that were relevant to my trip were the first two, which covered Barcelona and San Sebastion. Coverage is thorough and diverse enough that it was beneficial to me, but I wish that Mr. Steves wouldn't spend so much time on things like Picasso's career as shown in the Picasso Museum or the interior of the Guggenheim in Bilbao. There is so much more to see. I don't know why he spent so much time focusing on just these at the expense of other things to see and do in those areas. Still, it was a very useful purchase and I'll review it before going on my next trip to Spain.

I also bought the Mario Batali series on travelling Spain. I learned a lot more about Spain from this series than the Batali one. Two of the tracks were damaged, but they were areas I didn't go to, so it wasn't important. I took the DVD with me to Spain so we could review the episodes and adjust our plans on the fly. This was a useful purchase as part of our trip planning.

If you want to know about the history, culture and sights to see in Spain this is a good place to start. The narration is smart and insightful, they capture looks at many of the places a tourist might naturally want to go, and to some places that one might not ever read about in a tour guide and present it all in a way that is both exciting and entertaining. Great camera work, clear and in focus, lots of useful information, there is very little here that one could take issue with. Totally worth the money and highly recommended!

You gotta love Rick Steves and his travel series. And this one that contains all the shows he has done so far about Spain is a great way to learn about that country, past and present. I like that Rick Steves stays away from the resorts for the rich and focuses on travel for the "every man" as well as his emphasis on seeing a country from the locals point of view.
Era
Mostly I love Spain and enjoy Steves' work.
