Never having read this book when it was originally released (way back in the 70s) I was curious to read it-looking forward to it, actually. To start with, the writing is filled with euphemisms and comparisons that aren’t meaningful.

An original novel from the Space: 1999 series of books. A delight because it utilizes most of the characters in the television series and shows them at their best. The banter between Paul and Sandra is pleasing, just as you might expect when they aren't in Main: Mission working. Alan is written well -- serious when he's flying and working to save lives but also enjoying the company of attractive female natives when the occasion arises. Prof. Bergman is also there, serious and scientific but also kindly and dispensing advice in the best tradition of his personality. Koenig and Russell are there too, reminding us of their characters from season two of Space: 1999 (in relation to one another), but well played and dedicated to their cause. In this case it's staying alive, repairing their Eagle, and trying to unravel who is and is not the good and bad guys of the planet they are visiting. It's clever the way it's made clear that this world is not a place where the Alphans can live; the plant life contaminated and the androids in question pretty much over-ruling anything living on the planet's surface. The humans who mysteriously show up are not much better and have plans for the Alphans, most specifically Helena and Sandra, that are presumptuous and rather despicable but oddly logical considering their circumstances. In all, it is a rousing, dramatic and interesting read. Android Planet is also somewhat romantic and hopeful, particularly by the end of the book. Good job, Mr. Rankine!
heart of sky
This is a good book i remember the story, even now which is something i cant say about alot of sf, it is short, but all the main players are as good as their tv counterparts, its a pity this was never part of space 1999 season one as it certainly has and intelligent plotline and vastly superior to some of the tv episodes broadcast ,highly recommend for any space 1999 fan
