This book is excellent! As a beginner to numismatics, I was looking for a book that covered some of everything. The History of United States Coinage greatly exceeded my expectations. In over 500 pages, Mr. Bowers, one of the greatest numismatic authors of all time, covers the history of our national coinage, from the coins of the colonies in the 1600s, to the coins we use today. Of course, as this book was written some time ago, in 1979, it does not cover the coinage between then and now. This book has many photographs, both color and black/white.
