In the Middle Ages religion was a vital part of everyday life. All children were baptized (unless they were Jewish) and everyone attended mass on Sunday. Bishops ruled over groups of parishes called dioceses. They usually came from rich families. In the Middle Ages monks and nuns gave food to the poor. They also ran the only hospitals where they tried to help the sick as best they could. They also provided hospitality for pilgrims and other travelers (although as time went by there were an increasing number of inns where you could pay to stay the night).

Conflict Resolution in the Twenty-first Century: Principles, Methods, and Approaches. In this book we hope to offer a truly comprehensive survey and analysis of the major methods of conflict resolution. We do this because we believe that conflict resolution is an important activity that concerns us all, and because we can see that there has been a fundamental shift in the approach, understanding, and evolution of conflicts. As a method of conflict resolution, the practice of settling disputes through intermediaries has had a rich history in all cultures, both Western and non-Western (Gulliver 1979).

I'm amazed again at the greatness of our responsibilities as local churches to be busy about the Master's work. This book has helped me be assured of the ability of local independent Baptist churches to get the job done in this present world. I encourage all pastors to read this book.

The Church Still Works is an amazing documentary of how God's Church still works. Paul Chappell and Clayton Reed together have written a book that shows just how God is still working through His local churches. Every pastor should own this book. It is the best book I have ever read on the local church. Chappell and Reed show proof from thousands of churches that follow God's Word that souls can still be saved and lives changed. Today's churches do not need gimmicks to win souls to Christ and encourage people to come to church. People still need someone to take the Gospel to them just like in the early church age. If pastors followed the guidelines in this book, America would see a great revival.Church Still Works: An In-Depth Study of the Practices and Potential of Twenty-First Century Local Churches

This book begins with a thorough survey of Independent Baptist churches in America. The results of this study are both encouraging and challenging. It then highlights the factors that encourage growth and health in a church and gives examples of how churches involved in the survey are implementing these biblical practices. The heart of the book is a challenge to church planting--healthy churches reproducing more churches. Very encouraging.

This book covers every detail and more for someone who is beginning a new church or who has a church already established but could use more organization. Pastor Paul Chappell does everything first class and the book shows how to do that. He also includes after some chapters a segment by a pastor who is applying what he is teaching in the book and having good results. Mike Denison
The studies and conclusions in this book are insightful and stirring about the challenge, need, and opportunity of church planting
