I liked some of Woody's movies, loved some of them and plain didn't care for others.
But his essays are on the whole Very Funny.
Some of his humor is off the wall, based on ridiculous premises.(The Whore of Mensa for example:About a guy that has a great sex life with his wife but gets no intellectual stimulation. So he go's to the the Whore of Mensa for that. Mensa is the organization for geniuses.) But this just opens the way for some of his funniest stories.

I got his other books (without feathers, side effects, etc.) 30 years ago,but they fell apart. This has those books and they still make me laugh out loud to this day. Only complaint is it does not have the story "death knocks",shame because that was one of my faves.

The boundless fantasy and versatility of Woody Allen comes across in his short story collection that reads like a collection of notes for himself with ideas for new screenplays. Crazy, smart, insightful, surprising, clever and entertaining! He is a master story teller!

Woody Allen is, as always, brilliant and funny. This is the ultimate collection of his non-film writings, but similar themes to his cinematic works will be found here as well. He has a unique (and, beneath the humor, accurate) perspective on the realities of life and the human condition. There is often more than meets the eye.

Not what I expected but a really fun read. Vintage Woody Allen once you get into it.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes to laugh till their sides hurt. I read Without Feathers when he first wrote it and my old copy is tattered from reading it so much. I read him when I need to cheer myself up!

Somewhat early Woody Allen. Some of the pieces smack of 1960s drop-out humor and sophomoric intellectual posturing--still, if Allen is down your alley, you'd want to read this book.
Classic absurdist early work. Some clinkers, but worth it for the gems. If you like Woody Allen, you'll love this.
