If you're a textbook reader (and let's face it, if you're going into IM you probably are), at some point you're going to want to plow through as much of Harrison's or Cecil's as you can. I looked at both, and I like Cecil's better, so I picked up the 2 volume version. It's complete, detailed, and well organized, and I use it to read around my patients and to study for MS4 IM electives. I plan to continue using it heavily as a primary text as a resident. It's been around this long for a good reason. Though it is a massive amount of information, little if any feels wasted. A good internist knows a lot about a lot, in part because a good internist has frequently referenced an authoritative IM text like this one.

I am a nurse, working in healthcare information technology, and must often update my clinical knowledge. I originally purchased Harrison's Internal Medicine for Kindle because I liked the print edition, but the Kindle edition is formatted like a PDF, which means that you have to enlarge and zoom in to read parts of the page and have to move the page around in order to read it...then zoom out and turn the page.

I first purchased one of the chapter editions of Goldman's Cecil (Chap 58, Heart Failure) and liked the style and presentation so much that I went ahead and purchased the full-text Kindle edition. It is formatted for an e-book and easy to navigate. In addition, the information and text itself is very, very good.

Concepts are presented simply but not "dumbed-down;" nor is the language so high-level that it is difficult to understand. There are links to other chapters within each chapter, since each chapter is short and very narrowly focused. So, for example, when I read in the heart failure section about preload, there was a link to the chapter that more fully explains preload. The tables and pictures can be enlarged with a double-tap.

Overall very pleased with both the content and the formatting. Plus, the short, focused chapters make it easy to brush up on specific subjects. This has replaced my hardcover Harrison's as my "go to" for clinical information.

I was looking forward for this set of books. I took my Harrisons book and got rid of it. This publication it fantastic containing great accompanying drawings and pictures to help with the reading. Great resource book. I highly recommend Cecil for any person interested in expanding on any clinical subject.

Of course it's a great text...I've had many past editions of this behemoth. How great it would be to have every word, diagram and table on a several ounce Kindle Fire! I thought probably that all of the features included in the online version, including hyperlinks to the videos would all be conveniently included. Wrong...I found many of the charts and tables difficult to read. I found the search mechanism to be slow. I found no hyperlinks to immediately bring up any online videos or additional information. It's certainly convenient, just not up to what I think it could be.

Wow. This truly has a lot of info, and there are frequent references to journal articles that are often free on the NIH websites. This book, unlike Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine and the Merck Manual, is not commonly found in public libraries.

The book itself is fantastic but the kindle version doesn't seem to handle large books well.so it's slow and disappointing.

Is one of my favorite textbook, withe a good review of different matters. In digital book the read is more accessible everywhere. One problem in my reading is when I need to different pages at the same time ebook, that is easier with paperbook
It's a great thing to have Cecil Medicine on the Kindle. I can take it everywhere and the information is truly reliable.

The search tool, however, does not work, making it difficult to find specific topics, because the book content is vast, with a lot of pages.
