Kathleen Cross is a writer, educator and speaker who has been a guest on numerous radio and television shows including Michael Baisden, Montel Williams, Dr. Phil and Oprah. Ms. Cross is the author of Skin Deep, an award-winning novel exploring issues of race and ethnic identity, and Schooling Carmen, the story of an East . high school counselor whose survival depends on her ability to embrace change. This novel touched close to home for me because I am a biracial female (african american/hispanic) so I can relate to many things discussed.

That novel is Kathleen Cross' "Skin Deep". SKIN DEEP was skillfully written and I enjoyed the multicultural theme. The twists and surprises were so well done that I couldn't quite believe this was her first book. and without a doubt, I have to say the author is just as real as her writing. SKIN DEEP is the story of Nina Moore, an African American woman who up until her move to Arizona, never considered herself to be anything else BUT a black woman. I've recommended this to several friends and the best part is - the book is not expensive. Great job, Ms. Cross!

This was a really good read. I enjoyed it start to finish!
I enjoyed reading this book. This book talks about how to be true to yourself and how not to let your past define you. Everyone has something in their past that they have to learn how to deal with before they can move forward with the future.

I got this book for my kindle because it was free and I was intrigued by the description. I'm glad I made the purchase.
I can't recall how I stumbled across this book but boy am I glad I did. This was an excellent read. I finished this book in one day. The characters were very well developed and the story was believable. This book makes you take a look at yourself. I would definitely recommend it.
love this! A+
This book was awesome. Little to no errors. This book showed you how the blurred the lines of racism are, but how clear individuals can break the cycle.
the book has a good story line and i liked the way it was presented to the reader. there were times when i felt that it was a little drawn out. i found myself skipping a couple of pages.
I truly enjoyed this book. It spoke volume. To many biracial children has no identity and the struggle that Nina went thru was surreal. This book took you to see both sides and strip away layers that are unspoken. It brings up the debate, Are white treated differently than blacks? Like for instance when the police officer pulled over Ahmad he was profiling him because he was black. You could feel that emotional tug, the Police Officer was very mean to Ahmad right In front of his five year old daughter. Now when Nina was pulled over by an officer she was treated rather fairly and she she was speeding The Officer spoke to her rather nicely and even gave her Direction to where she was speeding to. Nina is biracial but she looks more white than black so most people assumed that she is White. Ahmad and Nina's first encounter was not that easy,he was rude and thought that since she was "white" she was one of "them" having just encounter that__________ cop. She however proved to be a really nice person of than he can talk to and his daughter seems to take to Nina as well. This book broke down layers, It spoke of Volumes it took them to hidden places, and it open theirs eyes to the reality of both has come into. Ahmad and Nina both had many question and They answers that they got was something that they both handled very well. Can I say again I love this book. It has character development, a believable love story and the plot was outstanding. Ahmad story was surreal am sure there are many black men out there that was dealt a bad hand for the color of their skin. He went to jail came out and had to take care of a five year old daughter buried his wife and even as he endured this things he still wanted to be a better man and father. His daughter was a very smart little girl and I think she gave Ahmad the needed strength . Nina had questions about her mother and her dad never wanted to discuss it.I knew when she goes to find out about her past she will not like it. However after things were discovered she did come to terms about her family and that their her family no matter what.Kudos to this author I truly truly enjoyed this book and I surely recommend.
