I have just finished reading Lucy Springer Gets Even and loved it. I was hooked from the first sentence. I liked the diary format, starting with day one where Lucy's husband walks out and then taking that journey with Lucy as her life fell apart. It was a hard book to put down. It was very funny, but poignant and totally relatable, as well. I was intrigued as to how Lucy would rebuild her life.
Definitely a book I would recommend to readers who like Marian Keyes, Jennifer Weiner, Kathy Lette, and Sophie Kinsella.
I have just started reading Heidke's other book What Kate did Next and it's looking like a winner, too.

lisa is a talent, and her stories of the trials of women are always interesting and thoughtful, with some nice little twists of humour.

Lucy Springer Gets Even by Lisa Heidke is pure Chick Lit! Lucy's acting career has been on permanent standby for a while (although there was the infamous broccoli commercial...), her love life just turned upside down, with her husband taking off to parts unknown without so much as a goodbye, and if that weren't bad enough, she has no kitchen, and the house is a disaster as it's in major renovations with workers who enjoy a good cup of coffee more than swinging a hammer. What's a girl to do? Call her Mother? Heck, that's part of the problem too! How about try and put it all back together with wit and good humor, and a bit of alcohol thrown in for good measure!

Lucy Springer Gets Even was pure fun! Lisa Heidke has a wry sense of humor that shines through as Lucy goes from the gutter to glory. It's unique and a great way for us to be swept up in the story, just as if we were there. Lisa Heidke puts us in the role of BFF as we watch Lucy try and juggle career, kids and her well meaning, but domineering mother, and I was rooting for her all the way!

Great writing, a fun story written in a unique way, and a good ending is what you'll find in Lucy Springer Gets Even. Women who want a lighter summer read with a resilient heroine will enjoy this book! And this book hits the bulls eye for Chick Lit lovers too! Anyone who enjoyed Bridget Jones Diary by Helen Fielding, or the writing of Jennifer Weiner should pick this up!

What a fun read! I really enjoyed reading Lucy's story. I loved her personality, her sarcasm, her realness. I HATED Max.

I thought the characters were all very real. From Lucy's insecurity to the moms' lunch dates at which they all gossip about who isn't there. Gloria drove me nuts, though. Why is she Lucy's best friend? She doesn't respect Lucy at all. I don't get it. And Dom - I wanna know what happens with that. I was very disappointed when there wasn't a clear answer to that at the end. I felt like the book ended a few chapters too soon.

I liked Lucy's unwillingness to stoop to the level of those who tried to slander her. I also loved that through it all Lucy came to realize (or "realise," as it is in the book) what truly was important.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. It's the perfect summer read.

This is a really good book. The characters relly come to life: such as Patch- the building supervisor who wears an eye patch and Gloria, Lucy's over the top crazy agent who is always trying to get her to do reality TV. I also love Lucy!! I love how she is not a perfect Mom. Too many times in books, Mothers are portrayed as perfect and Lucy is definitly not perfect. But she is comfortable with her faults and I like that!

This book starts with Lucy and her Hubby sitting around the table eating Thai food. He pushes his plate away and says "I've had enough." He then walks out of the house. She finally realizes, after talking to his secretary a few days later, that he isn't coming back. She then receives a post card from him saying he needs to think about their life and marriage and is Bali!!

Wow. I am not sure what I would do if my Hubby took off without so much as a word but I'm pretty sure it would involve bodily injury!!! And to make life even worse, he left her in the middle of a huge home remodel project, that he wanted! She has a leaky roof, no kitchen, and loud, crazy builders that don't feel like doing a lot of building. And she has to stay strong for her 2 kids.

Have no fear!! Lucy Springer does get even as the title suggests. I don't want to spoil the ending but it is hilarious!!! This is definitely one of those books where you yell at the characters. "I hate you!!" or "NOOOO! Don't believe him!! His is so obviously lying!!" (Don't look at me like I'm crazy! You don't yell at the books you read?) I HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone.

Lucy Springer Gets Even is a great women's fiction novel about how, when life falls apart, you can only do your best. Lucy Springer is a great, down to earth woman who handled her cozy life going wonky a lot better than I would have - and I love that she never gets sour or vindictive about it even though she has ample chance to do so. This book is a great cozy read with likeable characters and fun plot lines.
