The Encyclopedia of Mythology: Classical, Celtic, Norse by. Arthur Cotterell.

More by Arthur Cotterell. The Encyclopedia of World Mythology. I would call it the "Nearly Ultimate Encyclopedia of Mythology" because it does not include Australian, African, South American, or North American mythology. Arthur Cotterell, Rachel Storm. Most of the rest of the world is covered, however, and covered rather well.

The book is designed so that the illustrations enhance rather than obstruct the text. The caption for the illustration of Lif and Lifthrasir in the Norse section does not agree with the entry as to who is male and who is female. A pronunciation guide for Gaelic, Welsh, and Slavic names would have been helpful.

Ultimate Encyclopedia of Mythology Paperback – 13 August 2012. by Arthur Cotterell (Author), Rachel Storm (Author). Arthur Cotterell has lectured and written widely on the mythologies and ancient civilizations of the world. This book is wonderfully illustrated (the illustrations is what makes this book worth getting alone) and does touch briefly on each of the minor legends (too briefly for some, Bastet's information was far too brief).

The authoritative A-Z of the mythical figures and stories of three ancient cultures: Classical, Celtic, and Norse.

I had this book in the past and it was a pretty sizeable book, however this is condensed and much smaller. I probably should have checked for dimensions first. I love the book, however the smaller words and pictures takes something away from its desirability.

Given the page count this book doesn't cover a whole lot of mythology, but it still addresses the more popular stories. Still a gorgeous print with tons of images. Highly recommend it for any mythology lovers.

I purchased this for my boyfriend and he absolutely loves it. Exactly as described. Perfect.
Livina
Puts Arthrian mytholohy in with Celtic, and calls a number of non-Norse mythologies as "Norse Mythology", which is absurd. So the Celtic and Norse sections are not as good as the Greek section. The artwork is superb.

Good source of information. I'm love to read and I'm enjoying reading this book

This it a great book. It is a must have whether you are into Mythology for school or personal studies. Lots of good information contained in this book.
This book was great, there are loads of pictures and artistic renderings throughout and it has very detailed information. I bought it for the Norse Mythology but I have glanced through the others and found them to be equally enthralling. Definitely a great buy.
