I read the actual book quite a few years ago. Rosamund's story is very exciting and intriguing. She was a close friend to Katherine of Aragon and Queen Margaret of Scotland. She had 3 wonderful men in her life, and a greedy uncle who she had to outwit. I had forgotten how good this was. Can't wait to read her further adventures again as well.

I have long lived the novels written by Ms. Small.
These are books that can be read again and again. Rosamund was a child bride twice. Outlining both her husbands. Finally she was matched with a knight from King Henry VII court. That too, ended with her widowhood.

Beatrice Small is an excellent author. When you read this and her other books you get lost it is like going in a time machine! You also learn as you read, it is history coming to life. Her characters are very pro female, they are smart, feisty, free thinking and very human. Great content and some nice naughty parts as well, there is much twist and turns, betrayal. it will keep you in a roller-coaster of emotions . This is one in the friars gate series .

Picked this book from my local library. I was a first time reader of Bertrice Small. I liked it. It was interesting. I've never read anything like it. And the ending I had to find out if she ended up with the Laird because it leaves you hanging in the end. So I had to get the second book. I liked the 2nd Friarsgate book. Now I'm getting the 3rd book. I'd recommend reading this book. If you aren't sure you want to spend the money to get it I would suggest borrowing it from the library. It's free and if ya hate it you didn't blow any money. No loss.

Small, once again weaves a wonderful story of love and intrigue enveloped by history. Of the Friarsgate books, I have read the first, second and fourth. The second leaving me a bit dissapointed, but this books rocks. A wonderful story of a young girl comming into her own and the men who love her. The addition of her cousin Tom Cambridge adds not only levity, but a family for the heroin. Very nicely written. I didn't want to put it down. Keep them comming Ms. Small. An avid reader and fan!!!

As an old and devoted fan of Ms Small, I am extemely pleased with this new novel which introduces us to the Friarsgate folks. Of course this novel reminds us of the O'Malley's--it's in the same general location & timeframe in history. I am hoping that, in later Friarsgate stories, old friends from Bertrice's other novels will make an appearance. Maybe that's not interesting to other readers, but it would be to me. I just wish we didn't have to wait a year to find out what happens to Rosamund and I can't wait to read the final O'Malley novel, Vixens.
