Home Nicholas Sparks Safe Haven. With most of the work now behind her, she liked to sit on the front porch in the afternoons and read books she'd checked out from the library. Aside from coffee, reading was her only indulgence. She didn't have a television, a radio, a cell phone, or a microwave or even a car, and she could pack all her belongings in a single bag.

Nicholas Sparks, Safe Haven. Nicholas Sparks, Safe Haven. Every couple needs to argue now and then. Just to prove that the relationship is strong enough to survive. For them, it was nothing but an ordinary day on an ordinary weekend, but for her, there was something revelatory about the notion that wonderful moments like these existed. FOR USE IN SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES ONLY. Katie, a newcomer to the small town of Southport, North Carolina, resists forming any personal ties until she is drawn into relationships with Alex, a young widower, and Jo, her plainspoken single neighbor, who help her overcome her fearful past.
Big fan of Nicholas Sparks. This book only reaffirms that fact. I enjoyed this book so much. I highly recommend it to anyone that wants a book where you think you know the ending, but it's so much more.
The journey of a young Widower raising 2 very young children alone. He loves them so fiercely, he always worries he needs to be more. He still loves and misses the wife he lost 2 years ago.
It's also about a woman with a very harsh, violent, and brutal past. She wants to feel safe, but doesn't think she ever can. She has been running from her past. She's changed her appearance and found a beautiful little town she's afraid to call home. Trust won't be easy for her. From a small distance, he watches her interact with his daughter, and is caught off guard with how this affects his heart. He wants to talk with her, but senses he could easily scare this woman away. His instincts are very good at understanding her fragile nature, but he also knows she has a strength he admires. A little help from her neighbour gets her started with basic trust and a special friendship. Her neighbor also tries to play matchmaker for the 2 main characters.
This story takes you to very dark places. It's not just heartache or loss, or the usual things in a love story. There is also true suspense, very different journeys in life, and the story is told from several character's points of view. I think it's told in such a way, you will stay up all night, as I did to follow these characters stories till the very last page. The ending is incredible. How nice to find a story about love where you think it's your typical walk in the sunset together....The End. There are Sunsets, but the ending was just so amazing. Read this book!
I am a huge Nicholas Sparks fan and have read all of his books. I have felt mad, happy, and sad, with some of his books, but they are all amazing. I think this is one of his best. DO NOT peek at the ending of this one. I have a friend that does this and to me it ruins the entire book....any book, but holds true especially for this one. I will not go into the story, as some do on here, because again that can ruin it. You will not be disappointed in Safe Haven. Many conflicts and battles within the characters, and you will most likely relate to at least one of them. Again the ending is awesome. This is one you will remember, I know I will. Sparks just keeps getting better and better.
Safe Haven was an excellent book . Nicholas Sparks is a phenomenal storyteller . I love everything about this book from the first page to the last . This is the kind of book that once I started to read it I found myself unable to stop. Everything about the storyline had me hooked . The characters, the story itself , and the way it was written . I love the way Nicholas Sparks can draw you when I make it where you never want the story to end . Safe Haven was one of the best books I have read in a long time and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading a book that will have you hooked from page 1 .
It would be easy to declare the plot line cliché and predicable, but in the end it didn't matter. Sometimes a story bases on "simple and charming" are all that's required. This book moves along well and the characters are likable and easy to root for. The ending is clever and heartwarming. It leaves the reader satisfied that all is well and loves always prevails.
"When a mysterious young woman named Katie appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships: one with Alex, a widowed store owner with a kind heart and two young children; and another with her plainspoken single neighbor, Jo. Despite her reservations, Katie slowly begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community and becoming increasingly attached to Alex and his family.

But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her . . . a past that set her on a fearful, shattering journey across the country, to the sheltered oasis of Southport. With Jo's empathic and stubborn support, Katie eventually realizes that she must choose between a life of transient safety and one of riskier rewards . . . and that in the darkest hour, love is the only true safe haven." From the very first moment that I began reading this book I could not put it down. I really appreciate the way Mr. Sparks simplifies his characters without putting too much into their emotions. He lets his readers embrace what his characters are feeling without forcing their emotions onto us. This author really has a knack for stripping his characters' souls bare and giving them the finest qualities, while still keeping them human; faults and all.

If you ever want a well-rounded book, that is not rushed, has a beginning, middle and end that is not two days of seriously unbelievable action packed...then this is definitely the book for you.

If you love this book....then you will like all his other books. This man is the greatest thing since sliced bread!
