Catherine Marchant (Author). I purchased two of Catherine Cookson's books because we enjoyed the Television Productions of three of her books.

Catherine Marchant (Author). The books i chose were so dull, so boring and took forever to finish. One person found this helpful.

The Slow Awakening, Catherine Marchant, aka Catherine Cookson. Catherine Marchant or Catherine Cookson, her books are good. Kirsten MacGregor, orphaned in the mid-1850's, raised by a cruel farmer, sold to a traveling tinker at age 14, raped and held captive until separated during a storm. Pregnant and rescued by the Flynn family. I like how she makes her heroines not be aristocratic, but are involved with aristocrats in some way, but don't end up with them necessarily. It was neat how the subjects made their decisions based on the activities that happened in the book, even if it went against their natural characteristics.

Another awesome and totally absorbing story by an author who has no equal. I wish I could share this woman's work with everyone. I have been reading and re-reading her stories for years. As you are reading, it is so easy to envision the story. No need to tell you about this story. Just trust me and jump right in and enjoy becoming immersed in this amazing story from one of the World's greatest story tellers.

Catherine Cookson is one of the best writers I have ever read. Everything she writes is Great I am proud to say I own just about everything she has written, You will not be disappointed if you like to read about people struggling to survive their circumstances overcoming outrages tragedies ,I love everything she writes.
MY Favorite Is FIFTEEN STREETS,The first book I read, some of her books are on DVD but they don't do the Book Justice but gives you a glimpse of it.

This was a very good read, about young Kirsten McGregor, who had lost both parents to the fever as a young child. Sold as a 12 year old, for $2 to Hop Fuller, a devious and sex obsessed tinker, he uses Kirsten first as a skivvy, then for sex. She becomes pregnant, and ---the story starts from the time she delivers her son.
told with all Catherine Cookson's writing skill, an exciting plot develops, and Kirsten undergoes many good and bad things to finally reach the end of the book.

rather dramatic making it unbelievable, and the ending got a bit sappy and "girly". This is not my normal choice of book so that may be why I am a bit hard on it as others seemed to give raving reviews.

I purchased two of Catherine Cookson's books because we enjoyed the Television Productions of three of her books. The books i chose were so dull, so boring and took forever to finish. I always finish a book, no matter how dreadful it is, always hoping it might improve somewhere along the way.
It's so easy
Love love all of Catherine Cookson's books this one was just as enjoyable as all her others . Recommend it.

What can I say, once you start reading one of Ms. Cookson's noevels, you are hooked. This lady has a way of putting you right there in the midst of the characters!
The story kind of begins on a hopeless note of a helpless girl who is rescued from a roaring river and then begins the web's of human wickedness until the river has its way. Not her best but still a good read
