Eugenia Price is a name spoken with affection by millions of readers. I had heard about Eugenia Price and read a couple of her books. Then I read about this series and was thrilled as I read each book in the series.
Eugenia Price is a name spoken with affection by millions of readers. Newcomers to Ms. Price's work should soon join her legions of faithful readers. Ms. Price keeps your attention and you just do not want to put the books down. The characters are based on people who lived in that time period and in the area. The historical parts made me want to go to St. Simons Island, which my husband and I did. Her writing was so accurate, you felt like you had already been there when you arrived.
My church book club, Page Turners, picked Eugenia Price’s novel, Lighthouse, for our September selection because it is considered a classic for those interested in the historic South and in particular the coast of Georgia. The novel was the third book written by Price, but chronologically it is first in her St. Simon’s Trilogy. Set in the years following the American Revolution and filled with real people and places, this is a must read for fans of historical fiction.
Eugenia Price (June 22, 1916 – May 28, 1996) was an American author best known for her historical novels which were set in the American South. Price was born into a middle-class family in Charleston, West Virginia. Her father, Walter was a dentist. At the age of ten Eugenia decided that she wanted to be a writer, an ambition encouraged by her mother Anna. She submitted a poem to her school's literary magazine
