In a tale rich in character and description, this novel takes us on a journey of love, longing, courage, suspense, deceit, intrigue, hope and betrayal from the first page to the last. As the residents of the small town of Felton Bay steel themselves against the onslaught of Hurricane Kimi the narrative deftly intertwines the big picture of ensuing devastation with the engrossing personal stories of memorable characters. While Robyn and Zach are clearly the centerpiece of this novel, in no way do other characters pale by comparison. The author manages to give full breadth to each character without ever losing her stride. As much as the power of love permeates throughout this tale, the power of forgiveness and acceptance shine their lights as well. Adjectives such as brilliant, enchanting and compelling have already been used to describe this novel and I'm inclined to agree. A splendidly crafted gem well worth a read. Bravo! -- Michael R. Lane (author of Emancipation)

I absolutely loved this novel by Mary O'Sullivan. At first it seems a warm and gentle tale of love and friendship, but when the elements strike and the village is under siege, everything changes. Loyalties, old grievances and bitter prejudice come to the for, and when mixed with a heart-wrenching dilemma and a cruel, criminal twist it had me on the edge of my seat. Great characters, super setting and beautifully written. I'm looking forward to reading more novels by this talented author.

Mary has outdone herself here, with a fantastically colourful story of expectant heroine Robyn and her not so sleepy town of Felton.
Her eclectic cast (which I've come to expect of Mary's work) weave a very interesting story, each with their own tales to tell but ultimately coming together when hurricane Kimi threatens to destroy everything.
This story starts slow and quickly gains pace as does the hurricane, building to a wonderful crescendo with surprises at almost every page turn.
The thing I really love about Mary's books is that her characters are incredibly real and relatable, but never fail to deliver drama.
