Susy Rebecca Frankel is a New Zealand law academic, and as of 2019 is a full professor at the Victoria University of Wellington. After a LLB at Victoria University of Wellington and an LLM at Queen Mary University of London, Frankel returned to Wellington, rising to full professor. She serves on the board of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council. In 2019, she was inducted into the Royal Society Fellows.
New Zealand intellectual property legislation. All intellectual property laws are predominantly territorial. Broadly, that means that a registered right (such as a patent or trade mark) is only good in the country or territory where it is registered. The international agreements on intellectual property require some commonalities between countries’ laws (called minimum standards) but those agreements also allow for some differences between countries’ laws.
