Scarpetta: Scarpetta (Book 16) Mass Market Paperback – August 25, 2009. by. Patricia Cornwell (Author). Kay actually jokes once or twice and even displays a sensual side. Saints preserve us! Actually, I'm one of the few readers who didn't mind the way things were before, admiring Ms. Cornwell for writing the kinds of stories she wanted to write without regard for slick readability and other lowest common denominator elements.

The book is very interesting. It makes Kay a little more human nut I feel they are picking on her. The last book and this book concentrate on her personal like more. I feel that the writer made her more stuck up and that is not Kay Scarpetta!! She is incredibly smart but she is not stuck up. Anyway, this book was a great read!! Loved the story plot!! So far all of the Kay S carpetta books are Awesome!!!☺

Author Cornwell's often challenging formula of complaining characters, convoluted plots, and random pacing is tweaked a little in "Scarpetta", as some rare and welcome warmth is seen among the supporting cast, the plot is a little more compelling and easier to follow than recent entries, and the central character herself is presented a little more multi-dimensionally. On that last point, Dr.

Still, it was nice to see an injection of actual cameraderie among the central cast of Kay, Benton, Marino, and Lucy, and well as some eventual individual happiness for each.

In addition to the decent central mystery (did troubled police suspect Oscar Bain brutally kill his girlfriend or did someone else do it?), there's a subplot involving an internet gossip site that adds a little fun to the mix. A well-staged final confrontation scene and a moody, effective epilogue (set in the famous New York eatery, "Elaine's"), brings it all to a satisfying close.

Another one or two like this and I might refuse to go back to the way things were before, as "Scarpetta" has shown that it's possible for this series to showcase tough, edgy stories without the central core characters hating themselves and each other.

This entire series is a must read for intelligent readers. Lots of detail for is very interesting and you can follow the progression of the scientific computer age from 1990 to the present. Start with the first book in the series and you won't stop until the last. The new book comes out October 27 and I can't wait to get it on my Kindle. You won't be sorry you read this series.

I give Scarpetta four stars. It's a fun, fast paced read that still manages to make you feel like you are digesting every action and conversation in depth. Scarlett is a delightful treat for Patricia Cornwell fans. All is well.

The book was advertised as "Large Print." It is not Large print. The book recieved as a standard hardcover book. Although the condition (wear and tear) was acceptable, it was not as advertised. I bought the book for my elderly Aunt, which is of no use to her as it is NOT LARGE PRINT. Unfortunately, also not returnable.

This is the first time I've ever had a problem with Amazon or it's independent sellers. This is the first time I've purchased from this seller....also the last time.

I think this will be the last Scarpetta book I buy. I have read all the series up to this one and the hlst two have had too much emotional thoughts of the characters I am switching to the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child. He gets himself into trouble with bad decisions but there is not a lot of emotional stress.

Cornwell let us down with this one. The plot was so tangled up with the glorification of Scarpetta that it was hard for me to finish the book - and I've read all the Scarpetta books and several of Cornwell's other books. The picture she paints of how everyone is so taken up with Scarpetta - her skills, her talents, her poise, her acumen, her beauty - was just too much. I rather think Ms. Cornwell is painting a picture of her own image of herself! The blase way Scarpetta handles her niece's homosexuality is nauseating. The book is certainly not reflective of Cornwell's vast talent.
It's more than just a story - the characters draw the reading in and keep him/her engaged. Cornwell has the talent and uses it well!
