I have been a fan of author Dana Stabenow for years. I love both her Kate Shugak and Liam Campbell series.

BLINDFOLD GAME is a stand-alone thriller and Stabenow does what she does best. She gives us a well-researched story with believable characters and lots of exciting, tense moments.

Executive Officer Sara Lange loves her service in the U.S.Coast Guard. What she doesn't love is all the years she has spent apart from her husband Hugh Rincon, who works as an analyst for the C.I.A.

Through his network, Hugh finds out about a disastrous plot being planned against the U.S., specifically in Alaska, and Sara and Hugh's worlds collide.

There are great details about the workings of the Coast Guard, about freighter shipping, and about the beautiful state of Alaska. This was a fast-paced thriller with plenty of twists. I especially liked that the author ended the book with an in-depth epilogue filling in events post-story for the reader.

Good Read. Certainly different from the Kate Shugak bookls that got me hooked on Stabenow's writing. And, I am hooked. From a personal standpoint, I became familiar with the locale at the end of the book by way of a book by Rockwell Kent written about time spent in Alaska at the turn of the century. Thus, as the end came my interest was hieghtened. But that familiarity isn't need to enjoy this thriller. Stabenow has done her research and the feeling that "this is how it is" predominates. If you are one of those who gets put off when something occurs in the story that you know just doesn't seem plausable, you will have no trouble with "Blindfold Game."

Be patient through the somewhat slow start because this book quickly speeds up. I soon stopped wishing Kate and Mutt would show up and went with the flow. First book that's kept me awake flipping through my Kindle to the end in some time. Stabenow has another winner. . . now how about another Kate Shugak and I'm really read for more Liam!

My one complaint with the book was that it was not 100 pages longer. The writing is completely engrossing, from the vividly detailed descriptions both of setting and action to the intriguing plot that built up logically in disclosure as the story went along, yet still managed to have a surprise element in its conclusion. The story is set in the Alaskan waters incorporating the elements of international fishing, the US Coast Guard and modern day bad guys with an ingenious way of carrying out a contemporary threat. Characterization is colorful. Even the bad guys are humanized, though they never to the extent that they could be wished well. All in all, a very interesting read.

I have been fan of Dana Stabenow for sometime. I love her Kate Shudak books and love the backdrop of Alaska it's people and her view of their politics. I was angry with how she ended that so didn't read any of her other books till this one. I fully enjoyed this book. Characters I cared about, and an interesting fast moving plot. I will now have to look for more books by this author. Enjoy.

When I first started reading this novel, I thought Ms. Stabenow should stick to what she knows.....Alaska. The more I read the better I liked the story. Hard to put dowm my Kindle for the last half of the novel. This is definitely a good read for those who like her Alaska stories.
I have read most of Dana Stabenows' other books and did not even look to see that this was not a Shugak mystery until it came. then I read it and passed it on and everyone was equally surprise and delighted with the book. I will still look for the Kate Shugak books but this one did show another side of Stabenow
