Skating on Thin Ice book. Another Murder, She Wrote title from "Jessica Fletcher" and Donald Bain. Apparently, there are a lot because this is Think Nancy Drew in her later years. As usual, I enjoyed this whodunit mystery, and since I've watched the TV shows, I can see the characters and hear their voices. As I read, I wonder how the author wrote the story, what came first, if she/he wrote it backwards to come up with the discoveries and red herrings.

The plot sees Jessica at home in Cabot Cove with the usual characters Seth and Mort, and is centered on the Cabot Cove Ice Arena where there has been some strange goings on. I won't give away any of the actual story for those who like to learn about the characters and plot for themselves. However I will say that the basis of the plot is a sound, exciting and more importantly a believable one. This is the first book I have read in the series and based on this particular read I shall definitely be reading more from the Murder, She Wrote series of books no. Show more.

Manhattans and Murder. I love Murder She Wrote books. I also loved the original narrator (Cynthia Darlow) which I found her to sound similar to Angela Lansbury but I've gotten used to Sandra Burr now and really like her too. Help.

Someone in scenic, quaint Cabot Cove, Maine, home to famed mystery writer Jessica Fletcher, is "Skating on Thin Ice" after a Russian figure skater is found dead. Set in the dead of winter - if you'll pardon the pun - this installment in the Murder, She Wrote series is OK, certainly not a par with others in the series. Some of the dialogue was inane; the author placed too many characters amongst the clues, which made solving the mystery impossible, unless you're a reader who has the time to read the book in one or two sittings, which I don't. However, there are two passages in this book I found comforting. At one point in the story, Jessica tells her reader, "I went directly home from Mort's (the sheriff) office, started a fire in the fireplace, made myself a cup of soup, and settled in for some serious thinking. I left the lights off and enjoyed the peace the darkened room and roaring fire created, the flames tossing flickering shafts of orange light onto the ceiling and walls." At story's end, Jessica, while sitting among her Cabot Cover friends during a skating event, signs off by saying, "A roar of approval rose from the crowd. I clapped my hands, and next to me Seth Hazlitt (her best friend) gave out a loud whistle. I smiled. Aside from an occasional murder, Cabot Cove, Maine, is a wonderful place to live, and I count my blessings every day." If you're looking for a bedtime story on a cold winter's night, "Skating on Thin Ice" may warm you, but I do hope the remarkable Jessica Fletcher has better winters ahead.

I have every Murder She Wrote tv episode and all of the post series made for tv movies on DVD. To add I have the entire collection of Mr. BAIN' s Murder She Wrote books - on Kindle, of course - should be no surprise. While all are well written, some of the earlier works made me wonder if he had ever watched the show. Over time he melded the stories into the Jessica Fletcher and Cabot Cove we've known and loved for years. Many book series get stale or tend to become so routinely written you lose interest. NOT this one! Mr BAIN has kept our interest with fresh themes and locations and by maintaining a high standard with his research. We thank you Mr BAIN for keeping our beloved Jessica/Angela with us. This title was a delight. Thank you, Mr BAIN, and to quote Oliver Twist..... May I have some more, please?

I only buy and read the 'Murder She Wrote' books that take place in CC. I love the familiar characters and places, and the strong ties Jessica has to her home and community. There is something warm and cozy about reading a story set in CC. However, I don't think this was one of the best of CC mysteries. The story was very slow to develop, but did pick up once the murder happened and Jessica got busy. I loved how Jessica was 'googling' various things to help Mort with his investigation.

I am wondering if anyone can tell me how Mort ended up with a second wife, Maureen? What happened to Adele, the invisible wife?

A great story that I fully enjoyed reading. The was unknown to the reader until the very end of the book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great mystery.

Again a very interesting plot but very complicated. There were too many characters to keep track of and I think I would enjoy a return to what I think of as more her "cozy" style.

Like all of her books

I own several of the "Murder, She Wrote" books and this book, like all the others, have not disappointed me! Great plot twist and a surprise ending!! Can never go wrong enjoying the "Murder, She Wrote" books!!
Used book arrived in good condition. Usual "Murder She Wrote" style. Light reading that keeps you guessing till the end. This one was not as interesting to me but that's life.
