A Deadly Cod Caper book. A Deadly Cod Caper: Deadly Provincetown Cozy Mystery Series Book VI. by. Cynthia Gallant-Simpson.

A Deadly Snow Fall: A Cape Cod Cozy Mystery. Welcome to the second book in the Provincetown Cozy Mystery Series. When I began writing cozies I relied on my own experience of living growing up on Cape Cod as well as living there as an adult. I love every grain of sand, every raucous seagull and every small town each with its own unique character and characters. I have been a news journalist, a fashion model, and more recently a writer of fiction and non-fiction.

When a late-spring snowfall buries the little seaside village of Provincetown out on the very tip of Cape Cod and the town curmudgeon is found dead at the foot of the world-famous Pilgrim Monument, the police are sure he committed suicide. But British newcomer, innkeeper and avid reader of cozies Liz Ogilvie-Smyth thinks otherwise. What she saw was incongruous and thus suspect but will she be able to convince the police chief to re-open the case as a murder investigation?

I awoke on a glorious morning knowing it was time for my first swim of the year. As a child, a virtual fish-child, I’d set myself the challenge of being the first one to swim at school in the spring. and then the one to take a swim the latest in the fall. One year, I actually joined the Hastings Polar Bear Club for their annual February plunge into icy water from which they ran quickly to the Hen and Wolf Pub for hot toddies and lots of good cheer. I fully intended to carry on this tradition in Provincetown.

More fun that a barrel of quahogs!

This was not as good as her other books, but was still enjoyable. I will not give up on this author,

Just finished reading the second book in this series A Deadly Chocolate Pi and Can't wait for the next one. This author knows her locale and her characters are complex and fun. Everything about these cozies appeals. Mystery held my attention all the way through. Thanks.

In my opinion, there is so much more to a book than whether or not an author uses what most would consider "proper grammar." So many people get caught up in the mechanics of an author's writing, that they fail to truly enjoy a great mystery.

I will admit, I struggled through the first few chapters of A Deadly Snow Fall. The main character is a tad bit long-winded, and tends to take a thought and drag it out through long sentences and, at times, a little too much detail.

HOWEVER,
once I moved beyond the first few chapters, I had an incredibly difficult time putting the book down. The author really knows the elements of a great mystery. She spends a lot of time letting you get to know the characters, and they all play well off of each other. Spending some time in Provincetown is a wonderful treat.

Not to mention, any book that uses the element of surprise so well that you had no idea the ending was coming, is a well written one!

As a person who loves the mystery genre, I very much enjoyed A Deadly Snow Fall. If you can set aside the need to obsessively correct grammar, you're really in for a wonderful treat!

Can't believe it; five-star reviews for this book? It's got a good basic plot, yes, but there are a very large number of distracting writing mistakes, including totally mixing up two characters (Mary and Emily) at the end. There are also inexplicable little forays into something like the occult that read like the author desparately trying to figure out what to do next. And the conversations are laden with cliches yet somehow prompt hysterical laughter from the main characters, though certainly not from the reader. I liked the first couple of chapter, then it started to read like a high-schooler's first effort at fiction.

Time has passed by in Cabot's Cove and the action and intrigue has moved to Provencetown! Cynthia Simpson's new sleuth is a great addition to the Cozy mystery library.I found her characters full of life and would like to see some of them again in a continuing series. Oglive-Smythe can hold her own against the best of them. A really enjoyable read by an author who paints vivid pictures and creates equally plausible dialog. I can hear each charater in their own voice! The plot twists and surprises are just that. Truly an enjoyable read. Kudos to this author.

whether you choose kindle or paperback you will fully enjoy this writer's excellent prose, characters and painterly descriptions of Provincetown. She ranks high on my scale of cozy authors. A lovely read.
