A Little Yellow Dog book. little yellow dog will have his vengeance. There's something about Walter Mosley's prose that keeps me coming back for more. The first Easy Rawlins mystery was a superb piece of noir fiction that introduced one of the great protagonists of the genre but the following three books never really reached those same heights and still I come back for more.

Walter Mosley did not disappoint in this book or any of his books that I have read. All joking aside, "A Little Yellow Dog" is a classic with great interaction between Easy and Raymond "Mouse" Alexander. 2 people found this helpful. It is a definite page turner and just when you think you have figured out the crime, nope, you're wrong. The way the pieces are put together is excellent.

His current book is A Little Yellow Dog-another instant classic of suspense, style, and shrewd social observation. Easy Rawlins has given up the street life that has brought him so much trouble and grief. Walter Mosley is the author of four previous mystery novels in the Easy Rawlins series: Devil in a Blue Dress (basis for the acclaimed film starring Denzel Washington), A Red Death, White Butterfly, and Black Betty, a New York Times bestseller. In August 1995 he published his first non-genre novel, RL's Dream, to widespread praise.

Старинная литература: Прочее. A Little Yellow Dog - Mosley Walter. AFTER THE CUSTODIANS had left the maintenance office for their daily rounds, I pulled out the telephone and phone book. I made calls from eight o’clock until almost eleven. It was the thirty- second call that paid off.

The fifth "Easy Rawlns" mystery is set in the early 1960s: Kennedy is in office, the civil rights movement is gaining momentum and Easy is working as the manager of the custodial crew at a local high school in central LA. Rawlins is asked by a beautiful, young teacher to watch her Chihuaua for the day, as she's left her husband. Of course, no good deed goes unpunished, and things turn grim quickly.

The story is a complicated one, involving murder, smuggling, organized crime and the epynonymous little yellow dog that provides some moments of levity in what is otherwise a dark and complex case. Mosley provides some back-story to how Rawlins landed his job with the school, some context of the larger political climate of the age, and lots and lots of gritty noir. It is Mosley's ability to have readers care about his characters and hang on tightly for the wild ride as Rawlins is jerked and bounces around between drama at work, suspicious police, threatening criminals and an aggravating chihuahua that earns the book five stars. It is an enjoyable, quick read.

I love noir fiction, and Mosley is great at writing it. A recommended read.

It's hard to read intriguing books like this with a critical eye. But there are many reasons why I think this is one of the best mystery books ever. Although I haven't gotten to the rest of the books in the series, I'm already in love with the character Easy. He's just such a charismatic character that you can't help but hope he doesn't get into any trouble or danger (although he seems to like going into that kind of stuff). The themes that are embedded in this novel: racial tensity, moral justice, abuse of power, financial problems, and more are what makes this book a classic. Either way, it's a fast read and definitely worth the time.

This is a true to form Easy Rawlins tale, with twists and turns that keeps the reader wanting to know more. The ever faithful friend, Mouse returns, as a more subdued person. Of course we were convinced he had died in a prior tale, but the wonders of a herbalist and his wife Etta Mae bring him back to life. Easy uses his street smarts to solve the mystery. In this story we meet his to be girlfriend, Bonnie.

Another one of Walters tales. Shoot that yellow dog. And marry that woman,or at least jump her bones..

It was fun to go back to "A Little Yellow Dog" after reading "Little Green." I think this installment is one of the best in the series. Any book that begins with Easy Rawlins having pre-dawn sex in a classroom with a teacher has got my attention. All joking aside, "A Little Yellow Dog" is a classic with great interaction between Easy and Raymond "Mouse" Alexander.

There is something so soul satisfying about Walter Moseley's writing. I don't remember how I found his books, but when I did, I had to read all of them. His characters and situations are so well drawn that you feel as if they are real people and you know them. I look forward to anything he writes.
If you like the character Easy Rawlins then you'll love this story!! Walter Mosley has done it again stylishly written never a dull moment!! I would recommend it to anyone who wants a great read!!!
