This is an excellent book for both the newcomer to woodworking as well as the more experienced wooden toymaker. I lost my original copy when our home was flooded some years back and since another book on toy making by the same authors has now been published it was not easy to find the original book.
Some of the toys are from yesteryear and reflect the time before batteries and plastics and when children had to learn to make their own fun. In this respect it is of great interest to those old timers born before WW2. But there are some very unique action toys like the horse race track where the operator cranks the handle to speed the horse and their jockeys to the finish line that are simply timeless and so appealing to all ages.
My adult children loved the "shove halfpenny", but a 10 cent coin also works fine.
Its a great little book that I am so glad to have back on my bookshelf and already it has spent hours in my workshop as the easy to follow instructions allow another game to materialize.
