I was friends with the authors daughter, so the making of this book I knew a lot about, and this is a very excellent book. I believe it to be very well written, and a lot of work went into it. Its a book for people who like adventure, and its exciting. It was the best book ever written. com User, April 22, 1999. I think that this book is one of the best written. The way that he describes the storm and creates suspense.

My son had Ed Machado visit his school and sign his book in 4th grade. This book is for all ages. I wondered how my son who hated reading could finish this book in 2days .... I picked it up and finished it in an afternoon. This book is hard to put down!

Very good book. Only one book Ihave ever read has better hurricane description and suspense and that is "The Heathen" by Jack London. One Tree Island was overall a great book. I could not put it down. I have only one fault with it. Either Ed never had any siblings or they were miracle kids, 'cause no brother and sister get along that good. Other than that the book is great. His description of the island is good and pretty acurate (my dad has been to the Tuamotu's and he describes them the same way)

One Tree Island was a great book, but it had some flaws. No two siblings could ever get along for that period of time even if their lives depended on it! Also Shane and Shela are 15 years old so I think that when they would be searching for someone out in the ocean they would remember that their Uncle John would have drifted with the current for a while and he would be in the exact spot that he fell out in. So what I am trying to say is that Ed Machado made the book a little too childish.

I think that this book is one of the best written. The way that he describes the storm and creates suspense. Even though this was his first book i think that no other author could have done better!!

I thought this book was okay. In some areas it was interesting, but in others, it was just too "made-up". Shane and Shela were much too nice to each other, and it was not realistic at all!
