I worked for the New York State United Teachers in a professional position during much of the period covered in the book. I know most of the people in the book and attended some of the events he describes. I find the author's characterization and interpretation to be accurate and very much on target. It was a very fun read for me in that regard and brought back many, many memories.

A quick- albeit, overly generous history of NYSUT. If only the public in general could view teachers and unions so kindly.
Querlaca
This is a great book about the rise of teacher unionism. Now more than ever, every teacher in New York State, if not nationally, should read about this struggle.

This book can be a valuable tool for any group to follow that wants to gain political influence in America. Chapter 3 is a real eye opener
