A very good introduction to Tai Chi, especially for Western readers. Mainly concerned with Prof. Cheng Man-chi'ngs Yang style taiji, it nevertheless gives a good general treatment of the topic, Includes historical background, health benefits, and testimonials in addition to a clear, thorough description of the widely studied CMC 37 form. The book's handy size makes it an ideal reference for even intermediate practitioners to have near their indoor practise space.

Great for beginners.

As a very new student of this form of Tai Chi I am finding the book both fascinating and very helpful. Angus Clark provides substantive background pieces and then shows all of the moves -- both the warmup moves and the actual form. Each move is illustrated, diagrammed, and explained. Once one has learned the moves in class (I wouldn't recommend using the book without a course) this is an excellent home study aid!
Very pleased to have it.

Essentially the same as Mr. Clark's Complete Illustrated Guide: A Step by step approach.... but in a larger format. This book is ideal for older practitioners who will find the photos and instructions easier to follow because of the larger size. Includes a good treatment of historical background, health benefits, and insightful testimonials. Very clear step-by-step instructions of the widely practised 37 Form of Prof. Cheng Man-ch'ing.

So far I like this book. The step by step pictures aid me in imagining the flow of the moves and I like the philosophical and historical narratives supplied. It will be one of many books I study for Tai chi.
