I just can't believe that the kind of bullying this young woman lived through could happen in our country. That those bullying were adults and coaches is shocking. Thanks for writing about this painful experience Leslie Anne Wood.

A necessary read, for anyone that's deeply concerned about an emerging crisis in our society, from a Mom who lived it. Fortunately, her child survived the many assaults. Others aren't as fortunate. A user-friendly well written narrative.

This author and her daughter were subjected to a bullying situation which the book details. Their experience was like that of hundreds of other parents and bullied children; however this mother fought back. She details the steps she took to stop the bullying of her child. This is an informative book which touches upon a subject we hear about all too often when the bullied child takes drastic steps. Luckily, this mom used her mother's instinct to fight for her daughter's right to attend school and sports functions in safety.

"Bullied But Not Beaten" took me right to the places where they were... I felt like I was at the poolside, watching the mother and the daughter, at each swimming competition. The series of bullying events, over time, were clearly showing how everyone involved had different mindsets, different objectives and how things were missed as escalating and deepening abuse. I highly recommend this book for all parents, teachers, school admins and coaches. The chapter "Lessons Learned" has a very valuable list of resources to help anyone that wants to recognize, thwart, prevent and combat bullying. It is so rare to find such good suggestions to such a difficult subject. Thank you Leslie Anne Wood for having the courage and strength to write from the heart!

As I was reading Leslie's book I keep drifting back to events in my life where I either witnessed bullying or was involved. I pulled two of my son's off a baseball team one summer because of an aggressive, degrading coach that should have never been allowed around children. Leslie leads the way from her and her daughter's personal experience of defeat and triumph with this well written book to defeat bullying and allow prosperous encouraging behavior.
