He had many of his subjects killed on suspicion of plotting against him and was accused of slaughtering children in Bethlehem when informed that a new king of the Jews had been born there. But there was a crucial aspect to Herod’s character that has been largely ignored over the centuries.

First person accounts of the unbelievable courage of the multi-national RAF personnel trying to save western civilization.
Good insight to how the British felt with the air war.
This narrative history of The Battle of Britain is a wonderful read! The many insights, perspectives, and recollections of those in this most critical fight flows effectively from the earliest days to the climactic struggle on September 15th. Very well told.
This probably the best history of the Battle of Britain I have read. The author uses not only the memories of the pilots, but also newspaper stories, radio scripts and speeches. He also interviewed many of the support staff.
This book is an oral history of the Battle of Britain.
Rich in detail and anecdote, Scramble develops a picture of sacrifice and heroism behind the stiff upper lips of the men who fought.
Like the best history, it is also wonderful storytelling, keeping the reader in suspense even when he knows how things will turn out.
Norman Gelb is the author of numerous World War II books, none of which fail to entertain, educate and please. This one is his best.
Look, you should really buy/borrow this book. I borrowed it with Amazon Prime and read the entire thing. Although I already did research on the Battle Of Britan, this book describes it in the actual civilians, and pilots.
The book consists of numerous first person accounts of the various phases of the Battle of Britain. One might think this would create a disjointed narrative, but actually the accounts describe the battle in excellent detail. I am familiar with the Battle of Britain and this book left little out. So it was enjoyable and a fresh way to cover the subject. Not to mention it gets to preserve the individuals' memories.

the unusual approach is discussed in the Forward to the book. I don't have the book in front of me at the moment, and don't have that person's name at the moment, but the "Forwardee" also found the interesting approach to work well.
