10 May 1996 Holographic diagnostics of biological microparticles. Victor V. Dyomin; Vladimir V. Sokolov. The above microojects are transparent or semitransparent ones in a visible light rather often. The case of an optically soft particle, (that is of a particle whose substance has the refractive index close to that of the surrounding medium) is quite probable in biological water suspensions. Some peculiarities of holographing optically soft microparticles are analyzed in this paper.

Particle Field Holography - by Chandra S. Vikram July 1992. This book is a fine summary of the current state-of-the-art and goes hand-in-hand with the recently published SPIE Milestone Series volume on Selected Papers on Holographic Particle Diagnostics (MS21). Certainly it is always flattering to be asked to write a foreword to a volume such as this. In this particular case, however, I happen to have a special relationship to the subject matter of particle field holography.
