The real sweetness found in "The Lady & Sons Just Desserts" lies not only in the delightful recipes, but also in the the family stories and the genuine love of cooking that prevails throughout the pages. The recipes range from simple sweet-tooth satisfaction to satiation for serious sugar addicts. Many of the recipes are accompanied by charming anecdotes. Do these titles sound tempting: "Brown Sugar Pound Cake"; "White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Pie"; "Paula's Loaded Oatmeal Cookies"; "Eggnog Pudding"; "Mama's Divinity"; and "Blueberry Cream Cheese Tarts"? "The Lady & Sons Just Desserts" is just peachy--Georgia peachy, that is!

Okay, folks, here it is, the info you need to know whether to buy this book:

1. First off, there are sections full of family stories. If you like cookbooks which contain slices of the cook's life and you already are intrigued by Paula and her sons (aren't they handsome?!), then you'll get more info in this book. She doesn't explain how her sons manage to eat such rich desserts and stay thin and handsome but perhaps they'll come out with another book about that.

2. The recipes are excellent, from Gooey Butter Cake to Banana Cream Pie. Yes, they ARE rich and very sweet, so if you're dieting or watching your carbs, this isn't for you.

3. Finally, to really get a feel for the book, use Amazon's "Search Inside the Book" Function. Read some of the anecdotes, look at the Index. It provides valuable info about this book. Use it.

I just bought this book and read it. Then my boyfriend surprised me by buying tickets to see Paula Deen in person in Detroit.
WOW!! She talked about writing this cookbook and eventually meeting her handsome husband, Michael. I knew everything she was talking about since I brought the cookbook to the lecture.
Now on recipes...........GRITS KEY LIME PIE ROCKS!!! I could make a Key Lime Pie blindfolded but I had never heard of GRITS KEY LIME PIE. I tried it and my boyfriend loved it and I will bring it to family get togethers.
Paula Deen never dissappoints....her recipes always turn out....and are DELICIOUS.
BUY THIS COOKBOOK!!!!! You will love it!!!!!!!

After trying 2 recipes. I now have the confidence that I can make a recipe the day of an event and know it will be well received! They all seem so simple. I love how there is no guessing what she means. Like "let cool completely". I hate recipes when they say "place pineapples on top of cake"! Okay! Cool cake, warm cake, right out of the oven? She leaves no doubt!I'm lazy so I love her cake mix recipes! Will have no problem using her "scratch" recipes either. All in all "great book".Got quite a few questions answered in her "hints and tips" that were puzzling in other peoples cook books.By far this shall remain my favorite!

The book is amazing. Great recipes from a great woman.
Loved her recipes for a decade, never bought a book until now.
It's very sad how this amazing woman was treated. I purchased 5 new books to show support.
Thank you Paula, your fried green tomatoes are ALMOST as great as your pumpkin pie!
Enough with the media created racial divide in this Divided States of Embarrassment.
No one cares what color you are until you start whining.

I had to give a review on this book too for my literary club. Real insight into Paula's life. She went through some difficult times, but came out on top in her field. I like butter & cheese too, so her recipes are ones I would use.
I hate the way some of her sponsors treated her over the "N" word debacle.
And the main story in the news today is about the President of the United States using the same word!
Great bunch of great recipes. I vowed I'd never buy another cookbook, but just had to have this one!
