A sweet little book of devotions and ideas for teaching very young children the basics of Christianity without being in any way contrived or "cute" -- as one who works in Christian education, I highly recommend this book for personal use with your family or in the church nursery.

Great little book that is in mini-story format. It gives many things to think about and ways to introduce ideas of (mostly Christian) faith to young children.

As someone who works in religious education with children and parents (sometimes dealing with people of differing faiths, sometimes people new to our faith), this book has been an invaluable tool. My pages are dog-eared and now full of post-it notes. Gently Lead is a perfect book to help parents and teachers view everyday experiences as faith-filled moments. The entries are short and compelling. My favorite, "Fetching and Chopping" and its sequel "And Raking" has helped many parents and children in my experience to learn to transform ordinary work into Godly tasks. This book is perfect for use in preparing workshops, retreats, enrichment sessions for teachers and experiences for children. It is one of the top five books I use in my work as a religious education director. I have bought several copies to lend to my teachers and parents.

This book was mentioned in another book I was reading, and out of curiosity I purchased it. It is AMAZING. It's full of brief (2-4 page) vignettes and poems. It is written in a humble yet heart-warming style, and addresses many opportunities to help introduce a child to concepts about God during everyday life.

I have had this book for years, and it bears rereading from time to time. It is about helping a child develop spirituality, but it is inspiring no matter the age of the soul. It is SO down to earth, so basic and unadorned in its delivery of food for the soul. I first had it when my kids were in the mid grades. I just reread it and will use some of it again with grandchildren. A lovely book.
