Can a Christian Have a Demon? is an eye-opening book that explores some common misunderstandings about evil spirits and the ministry of deliverance. It tackles the question of Christians having demons with biblical insight.

Donald Jacobs illustrates it this way: "There once lived a skeptical fisherman who heard unbelievable stories about .

Donald Jacobs illustrates it this way: "There once lived a skeptical fisherman who heard unbelievable stories about people catching fish two feet long. He had never caught one over twelve inches. 1 There is an excellent presentation of the whole question in Don Bashams book, Can A Christian Have A Demon? Non-charismatic writers like Frances Manuel, Merrill Unger, Mark Bubeck, and Robert Peterson also teach that a Christian can have a demon.

We believed that a demon could be outside a Christian oppressing him but that it could not be inside him. The reasoning I used to defend this position was that Jesus and the Holy Spirit could not live inside the same body in which demons reside

We believed that a demon could be outside a Christian oppressing him but that it could not be inside him. The reasoning I used to defend this position was that Jesus and the Holy Spirit could not live inside the same body in which demons reside. The problem was, our experience did not match our theology. When we ministered deliverance, we frequently prayed for people we knew were born-again, Spirit-filled believers-and they manifested demons! We had to face the fact that either our experience was wrong or our doctrine was wrong. We couldn’t question our experience because we knew what we were.

What a treasure! I read this in two days, and I'm happy its in my library. Rare find!
The best part is, it gives the answer to be free of spirits affecting any christian. No condemnation, but solution. There's no shame in wanting bad spirits of lust, alcoholism, witchcraft , bad temper to be out of your life and body. Don't be scared to read the book.

Evil spirits are real, Jesus believed they existed, even in his devoted Jews attending the Sabbath. Be free, Be Happy! There is a solution. Great book!

A modern day classic on a challenging topic. Biblically sound and very relevent in a day when "Christians" vote Harry Potter as their favorite summer movie on "Christian" Radio; and 70% of the United States, where 70% of the U.S. claims Jesus as their Lord, their God and their King tithes to, celebrates and hangs out with his arch enemy the prince of darkness on Halloween. CAn light and dark mix? Can fresh water and salt water come from the same well? This book handles these questions and will challenge you to find out who are you giving your allegience to.

DON MAKES SOME EXCELLENT COMPARISONS. THE SCRIPTURES BROUGHT OUT ARE GREAT. REAL LIFE DOES TEACH US THAT CHRISTIANS CAN HAVE DEMONS. NOT A PLEASENT TEACHING BUT A NEEDED TEACHING. IF YOU READ DON BASHAM'S OTHER BOOK "DELIVER US FROM EVIL" OR WRITINGS BY OTHER AUTHORS YOU WILL DISCOVER REAL LIFE TESTIMONY CONFIRMS THAT CHRISTIANS CAN HAVE DEMONS. THIS BOOK WILL NOT GIVE YOU ALL THE TOOLS YOU WILL NEED BUT DOES CONFIRM THE TITLE.

A precise and concise review of material presented in the book (by the same author) "Deliver Us From Evil."
Basham speaks from first hand experience but more importantly the Bible. This book brings hope for Christians who truly struggle with compelling forces beyond themselves. It makes a clear case for the fact that salvation is often just the first step in the perfecting work of the Triune God in one's life.

Yes we can, BUT we need not let them inhabit as they are easily evicted from the house.
Authority has been given to serve the eviction notice on them. !!!

This premise of this book is absurd unless u happen to be a staunch charismatic. Hardened charismatics like the author are not true believers in the sense that ANYTHING GOES for spirit manifestation - spirits are never tested - if a person displays a fine utterance in tongue speaking, it is a good spirit. Such beliefs makes them more prone to evil attacks. In fact charismatics, catholics and false professors are the ones suseptable to devil posession. That is why they need deliverance. But true believers who are grounded in the basics understand very well that s/he who is begotten of God cannot be touched by the evil one (1 John 5:18). Further the author believes that posession of evil spirits from can occur regularly in Christians...he begins his deliverance by asking the name of the evil spirit that is embodying the man or woman (something that Catholic priests do and something we ought not to do) and fiercely utilising the name of Jesus to cast the evil spirit out. The author is also convinced that believing in Christ is only half the story of grace - in other words being born again is not enough. In his own words, a man/woman who believes in Christ can still be possessed by a demon and so believing must later be accompanied by deliverance. The author, like every enthused charismatic, is totally consumed with the idea that only those who speak in tongues have the Holy Spirit indwelling them. Speaking in tongues, sudden growling when praying, is to him a clear sign that the Spirit of Jesus and the Holy Spirit are working in those who manifest the prior. Would the Holy Spirit, who is God himself, do such dastardly deeds to believers? Finally the author condemns those who do not believe in public healing, but little does he realise that evil spirits are capable of 'healing'....unfortunately this healing pushes a charismatic further into the charismatic persuasion. Toward the end of the book, the author expressed surprise that a minister who does not speak in tongues (and thus concludes that he latter does not have the Holy Spirit in him) can actually cast a demon out of a man by softly mentioning the name of Christ or by uttering a simple prayer. To him it is incongruous bec the minister (he believes) does not have the Holy Spirit. Ultimately the author explains this away by saying that God allows the minister to conduct a deliverence ministry because the all-knowing God would know that this minister would eventually receive the gift of tongues.
